11. Supporting quality assurance procedures and activities
MHFA England is committed to ensuring that every learner receives consistent and high-quality training from our members. To help achieve and maintain this, we have robust quality assurance procedures in place. These consist of a range of monitoring and evaluation tools. We expect all members to support us to: – Identify and celebrate high-quality performance – Engage with our activities to measure course and programme delivery performance Quality assurance processes As outlined in the Quality Assurance Framework, our quality assurance processes include: – Regularly monitoring learner evaluation – Investigating any quality concerns or breaches of the terms and conditions of the Instructor Member agreement – Observing course deliveries – Implementing development plans to support improved training practice – Identifying trends to help inform the content of the MHFA England Instructor Member Development Programme – Holding wellbeing and development check- in calls with Instructor Members, Associate Instructors, and National Trainers Member requirements feedback on course deliveries and Instructor Member performance Additionally, all members are required to: – Complete a self-reflective record after each course delivery – Provide peer feedback on any co-deliveries
– Actively review evaluation feedback on courses delivered – Complete an annual self-assessment of their learning needs – Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant mental health trends, services, and resources – Keep up to date with the subject area of the courses they are accredited to deliver – Embrace opportunities for peer-to-peer learning – Engage with and embrace changes to support continuous improvement endeavours – Comply with any performance development plans provided by the Quality Assurance team All members should be open to receiving constructive feedback from peers and MHFA England. Members are responsible for taking appropriate actions to support improvements to their course delivery. Where necessary, the Quality Assurance team at MHFA England will contact members to discuss any quality concerns and we ask that all communication with the Quality Assurance team is conducted in a timely manner. If an Instructor Member has concerns about feedback they have received from a learner and would like to discuss this further with MHFA England, they can email qa@mhfaengland.org with their concerns. The Quality Assurance team will liaise with the Instructor Member to better understand their experience of the concern raised, and where required, provide guidance and advice on future course deliveries.
