OUR BEGINNINGS AND GROWTH Established in 2007, The Shanahan Group has been a consistently strong and influential leader in the local real estate market. Our company is driven by two women, Nan Shanahan and Karen Shanahan Garrett, who have deep professional and personal roots in the local area. Together, they operate a successful and strong brokerage, play an active leadership role in the community, and are always an advocate for the consumer.

A lifelong Winchester resident, Paula’s deep roots in the community give her an unmatched understanding of the local real estate market. Raised and educated in Winchester alongside eight siblings, her love for the town and its close-knit neighborhoods continues today as she and her husband, Paul, also a Winchester native, raise their four children here. This personal connection allows Paula to guide buyers and sellers with genuine insight into Winchester’s schools, neighborhoods, lifestyle, and market trends. Paula’s professional background extends well beyond real estate. After graduating from College of the Holy Cross, she spent ten years as a Human Resources Manager at John Hancock Financial Services, developing strong skills in negotiation, project management, and client advocacy, all of which she brings to every real estate transaction. Her ability to manage complex details while keeping her clients informed and confident is a hallmark of her service. Paula has served on the Board of Directors for the Family Action Network (FAN) and as a Corporator at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester. She has also coached youth soccer, taught CCD at St. Mary’s Church, and remains actively involved in fundraising efforts for the Winchester Hospital through the Winton Club.
