The rides were reopened after the company had changes made to them but the company has complained that the TSSA charges are “an abuse of power”. The company is also facing several pos- sible civil suits !led by people claiming inju- ries from the rides. These claims have not been proven in court yet. VOL Un homme de Casselman devra répondre à une accusation de vol. Les policiers se sont rendus au restaurant Brian’s à Casselman pour répondre à un appel au sujet d’une personne non désirable. Sur les lieux, un homme à qui on a demandé de partir a refusé. Il a !nalement été escorté à l’extérieur par les policiers. Le même homme était au centre d’une enquête pour vol à la station McEwen de Casselman. Patrick Farant, âgé de 27 ans, de Casselman, devra répondre à une accusation de vol en-deçà de 5000$. Il a également reçu un constat d’infraction selon la Loi sur l’entrée sans autorisation pour activité interdite sur les lieux. HARCÈLEMENT Le 10 septembre, des policiers se sont rendus à une résidence de la rue Montcalm, à Casselman, au sujet d’une a$aire de violence conjugale. Sur les lieux, une femme a rapporté avoir reçu plusieurs appels téléphoniques de son partenaire qui était toujours détenu à Ottawa. Un homme de 55 ans de Casselman devra répondre à deux nouvelles accusations pour harcèlement criminel et omission de se conformer aux conditions de détention. EFFRACTION La PPO demande l’aide du public pour retrouver le ou les responsables d’une entrée par e$raction survenue le 12 septembre, sur la rue Industriel, à Casselman. À cet endroit, des suspects ont tenté de voler des articles d’une remorque appartenant à l’entreprise Villeneuve Electric. Les suspects ont coupé un cadenas et sont entrés dans une remorque. OTTAWA | The court case concerning al- leged safety violations involving the Ca- lypso water park near Limoges began Sept. 10 in Ottawa.
The company has pled not guilty to 20 charges concerning alleged safety viola- tions reported in 2011 and 2012. Fourteen of the charges concern incidents involving the Steamer water slide. The company is al- leged to have failed to report and respond to the incidents involving the water slide. Another three charges concern an inci- dent June 27 2012 on the Pirate’s Aquaplay which involved a serious injury. The remai- ning three charges concern an incident with the Orange Bobsleigh ride on June 19 2012 during which a man su$ered a frac- tured skull Lawyers for the company argued there is
no need to hear testimony from eight of the 12 witnesses expected to recount details and events on the day of the Orange Bobs- leigh incident. The company’s lawyers have o$ered to agree to several admissions if the witnesses were excused but Crown coun- sel argued that the witnesses’ testimony is essential to the court proceedings. Part of the testimony will concern whether or not sta$ attending the ride failed in their super- visory duties before and after the crash oc- curred, causing injuries to people who were thrown from the ride.
