30 Hereford, Simmental, and SimAngus 18-month-old and yearling bulls
Welcome !
There is a lot of good in the Hereford offering. The Houstons are genom- ically exceptional. The Historians offer calving ease and performance with heavy pigment. The Cowman and Red River bulls are loose-hided, deep, and long. As for the Simmys, the quality runs deep in the Assurance sons. Good performance bulls to add muscle mass, depth, and length to their calves. Nothing noted in this letter would be possible without a great crew to make it all happen. As we have moved our kids to homeschooling, we have had a great opportunity to get everyone deeply involved. We place just as much value in the kids learning with hands-on tasks on the farm as we do their book work. Jaelyn has become very familiar with the cowherd and is helping with mating decisions and selecting bulls. She is also great on a horse for summer cow work. The boys are running tractors, feeding cows, and working in the shop. Emmy is our little cheerleader and always brings the snacks. She claims Oreos make everything better! To my beautiful wife Makayla, thank you so much for doing this crazy life with me. It’s a privi- ledge watching her be a wonderful mother to our kids, and having her as a best friend and partner. Each sale marks the end of the present year and the beginning of the next. We look back on a year of what worked, and what we can improve on. We are excited to offer these bulls up for your evaluation on February 7th. If you have any questions on the bulls, feel free to reach out to us, or set up a time to come see them in person before the sale. Thanks for all the support in the past, and we look forward to working with you in the future.
T
he 12th Annual JMF Bull Sale will be held on February 7, 2026. Wow, what a year to be in the cattle business! When we were expecting the cattle market to peak, it just kept climbing. For the commercial cowman right now, it is exciting. As our national cowherd rebuilds, we see premiums being paid for good, quality cattle. This is accomplished by bulls that sire steer calves that grow and convert intake, along with females that turn into reliable, functional, long-lasting momma cows. JMF is here to be a source of those bulls for you, and we will stand behind them. For the past few years, we have been moving our calving season to the fall. All the cows calve on pasture. As we calve these cows in a more natural environment, we see the benefits of high maternal mothering ability. Calf vigor is equally as important if not more. Every cow is responsible for raising her own calf and must do it well. We feel our 18-month-old bull program gives our customers a strong ad- vantage to traditional yearling bulls. The aged bulls have almost a whole breeding season under their belt before they turn 2 years of age, and can cover more cows than a yearling can. Our goal is not to make a handful of perfect ones, but to produce good, functional cattle that meet the demands of the commercial cowman to help them add value to their program.
See you on Sale Day! - Jared Flower and the JMF crew

RED RIVER 019H SONS: M466, M448, M459, M453, M474
JMF Red River was a bull we raised and have heavily used. His sons are loose hided, stout made, and often short marked. The daughters are sweet, moderate cows that really milk and can raise nice calves. Udders are full and tight. You can see the Red River mass and power through bulls like M466 and M453. Deep sided, long spined bulls that add pounds to a calf crop. While we talk about power with Red River, we can also mention calving ease as well; we have used Red River on heifers successfully. The 5 sons being offered averaged 665 for their 205 adjusted weaning weight, and all are in the top 15% or better for Calving Ease.
Congratulations to Jaelyn on Champion Steer at the 2025 Stevens County Fair. Ace was a home-raised steer.
A special Thank You to the West Central Cattlemen’s Assn. for sponsoring Jaelyn at the 4-H Auction!

SHF Houston is a bull we are sampling in our program for his length, added pigment, and his overall balance between phenotype and genotype. As you analyze these 5 half brothers, you take note of their bold rib shape and length, in addition to reading an exceptional EPD profile. You can appreciate the M489 and 501N bulls for their overall powerful design. Big topped, deep made, thick ended bulls with an abundance of rib shape. You also have the attractive, sharp fronted 503N bull with big red goggles on each eye. M4105 is your big weaning weight bull of the group - he’s bold ribbed and long spined. The M486 bull puts together a calving ease package that allows you to maintain performance. His dam, 912G, displays a neat and tight udder. All the Houston sons number up well. As a group, they average in the top 30% of the breed for Baldie Maternal Index at 419.

“SimFord” is becoming a regular term around JMF. This F1 Sim x Hereford cross has been very well accepted by folks. It is an interesting combination of heavy maternal traits, along with growth and performance. By adding a SimFord bull, you take advantage of the efficiency of Hereford, while keeping the power and growth of the Simmental for your feeder calves, and having a high maternal producer for your replacement pen.
