COMPLETE STREET STRATEGY

The following images illustrate Complete Streets strategies recommended for this area. Complete Streets is a policy and design approach that promotes an all-inclusive street supporting safe, convenient access ad mobility for all travelers for all modes of transportation. This includes pedestrians, cyclists, and users of vehicles and public transportation, of all

ages and abilities. Complete Streets are comprised of various design elements by which different travel modes can be safely and efficiently integrated. Each of the sections illustrated in the following figures highlights different street components compliant with this approach and suited specifically for this station area. Figure 5-88 presents the integration of spaces

for all modes of travel, with vehicle travel lanes at the center, adjacent bike lanes, parking, a multi-use trail and sidewalks, as envisioned for a new main street with the nearby recreational facilities. Figure 5-89 presents an example of a pedestrian mall as a central promenade with adjacent shared use lanes, and sidewalks abutting building frontage to further optimize the pedestrian

experience. The section in Figure 5-90 illustrates an example for a new residential street with shared use lanes in the center flanked by parking and wide sidewalks adjacent to the residential blocks. Figure 5-91 presents a plan view of the station area with the location of the sections.
