KING STREET STATION AREA Questions / Notes

16. What’s the likelihood of really getting a commuter rail station? (A : We’re not sure) 17. An audience member expressed that this is quite wonderful with what WSP has shown in Palencia and this. St. Augustine is an old town and railroad town, but developers want to make it Miami. They expressed concern that we can’t put that many people on streets. It will lead to a gridlock. They added that there is no open space in King Street. Question: Is that true that only if we have these tall buildings, a station is allowed? ( A: I don’t think so. In a Commuter rail study, the ridership forecast, and density are foundational) 18. An audience member expressed that there is not a lot of focus on socio economic side of things. In the last decade there were high income renters. They collectively increase land values, and it becomes difficult to afford. How do we mediate things like that? ( A: The implementation of this is a policy thing. Beltline example. Policy perspective) 19. Another audience member expressed that there is lack of places for people to go and this is such a fabulous opportunity to develop third spaces. What are things we consider improving? (A: From an ideas and urban design perspective we will be looking into what the programming is and how it is achieved, how is improved. There would be more specificity in the future) 20. The first and the last mile is limited of bus connection here. (A: Micro mobility is part of this) 21. An audience member expressed that station or servicing facility doesn’t work on curves.
