FCCR: Transit-Oriented Development Study

FIRST COAST COMMUTER RAIL TRANSIT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT (TOD) STUDY – WORKSHOP 2 COMMENT SUMMARY

 St Augustine, it’s residents and taxpayers DO NOT want or need this. Leave things as they are. We do not want another South Beach for our city. We don’t want the influx of urban decay  A fantastic bold step towards public Heavy Rail Transit for our exploding area, currently extremely dependent upon highway lanes. Reduce greenhouse gases thru reducing burning carbons.

 More rail in Florida is a good idea, the faster, the cheaper, the better.

 Spend the money making Philips highway traffic better!!

 Seems practical, using infrastructure that already exists.

 I like this proposed framework. This is long overdue and hopefully can be executed quickly, rather than later. The city has a history of dragging plans on for decades with no completion.

What comments do you have about the proposed JRTC examples?

 Great examples, and LOVE the splash pad idea! We need to attract FAMILIES to the area.  Dense mixed use with ped connections is the proper way to approach. May suggest leaving some areas for future transportation connections (robotaxis, air taxis) and adding a dedicated shuttle from the airport  The mixed use center should be similar to the one in Denver. Because I don’t think we need more office space in these post-pandemic times we’re in. The residential part of the station. Should be similar to the one in Dallas. With things to do outside your residence. And the public realm should be similar to the one in El Paso. To make the station more walkable.

 Not enough residents to support this monstrosity.

 Residential only

 None of the examples really fit Jax. I think expanded art- cultural and green space would be more in tune with the historical background of the area.

 Good idea

 I think those improvements would help bring young professionals downtown.
