FIRST COAST COMMUTER RAIL TRANSIT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT (TOD) STUDY – WORKSHOP 2 COMMENT SUMMARY
Please share your thoughts about the proposed CR 210 framework.
I think this would majorly help this area (I am a Creekside resident) if done correctly. CR-210 and US-1 and old 210 are incredibly busy right now, so whatever is done should help with traffic levels and traffic flow. I like the grid street network approach. I also believe that you should create a parallel trail along US1 to get the full benefits of rail with trail. With the emergence of e-bikes, facilitating travel to station areas and between station areas would be a huge economic development driver. See the Charlotte Rail Trail and Atlanta Beltline as an example. This station could be tied into the Nocatee network of trails. Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss.
This looks great! This is just what St. John’s needs!
The framework is good - question the location considering the plans to improve that intersection already. Why was this chosen instead of Race Track Road? Proximity to I-95? Of all the stations plans, personally, I like this one the best. This station in my opinion should be the model plan for the others; 1) It is way more comprehensive (you crossed the railroad tracks and US-1), The other plans seem small and constrained for different reasons, too small an area, or scale of development not large enough. With this plan, scale appears fitting, the size of area is fantastic - not to forget the potential for northerly grid extension to CR 210 Overpass. 2) It has more outside connections, Connects 210, US-1 Nocatee, Beachwalk, Nease. Only thing to add would be an East- West Shuttle/Bus along CR210 E&W/Greenbriar/Nocatee/Valley Ridge & Preservation Trail/Micklers Beach. 3) It has suburban redevelopment and densification to provide a local center to scale with the area This whole area of 210 is craving a center, and this proposal satisfies it completely. Side note, Use the land to its fullest extent and don't build/zone single family homes, the area has plenty, build multifamily structures/apartments etc.
PLEASE CONNECT PALM COAST TO JAX AND ST AUG
Let's densify, make it less roadscape and MUCH more pedestrian bicycle friendly.
Spend the money to fix Philips highway traffic!
