At least one officer fired a shot during the interaction between a 39-year-old man and police in Bourget that left two police officers injured and one officer dead, according to newly released details of the incident. Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), mandated to investigate circumstances involving police and civilians that result in serious injury, announced May 16 that it is investigating the discharge of at least one shot from an OPP officer after police were called to the Laval Street residence. On May 11, three OPP officers responded to a call regarding gunshots heard from the house in Bourget. Shortly after, police allege all three officers were shot and hit by Alain Bellefeuille from the house. All three were transported to hospital for their injuries. Police returned to the scene the following day and the OPP forensic team found evi- dence indicating one officer had fired his weapon during the interaction. Wagar & Corput Weed Control Inc, the United Counties of Prescott and Russell and participating Municipalities intend to control weeds along guard rails and posts along the following rural roadsides. This pesticide use is for the promotion of public health or safety under the public works exception to the cosmetic pesticide ban in order to control and protect against the plants that could affect public works structures.
