SKC VALUES

At SKC, we embody timeless elegance with a modern touch, providing concierge-level service from concept to construction. Our designs merge classic style with high-quality materials to create spaces that reflect our clients' visions. The fern in our logo symbolizes rebirth, renewal, and resilience—key values in our approach to interior design. Our goal is to create spaces that are resilient, continually renewing and adapting to my clients' evolving needs, while maintaining a sense of timeless beauty.

MOODS

We are looking to find that seamless blend between traditional and the clean lines of modern design. Above all, we should be portraying a sense of elevated luxury and good taste.

CURRENT LOGO

Simplify where possible, remove LLC (not needed). Minimalism is more elevated. No repetition of the word ‘design.’ Add better spacing, the line height is tight. De-clutter the newsletter the header and footer, reduce the number of fonts used. Remove repetition - ‘Sarah’ is used multiple times in the header. Consider a new headshot - nothing wrong with the current one, but we recommend a fresh headshot if its over a few years old.

WEBSITE

We are looking to find that seamless aesthetic blend between traditional and the clean lines of modern design. Above all, the website should portray a sense of elevated luxury and good taste.

Missing Favicon - hard to find the site between browser tabs. The colors land a little flat, lacking contrast, and overuse of the sage green is a little heavy. The green is appropriate given the fern theme, but we need to punch in saturation and contrast. Re-design the navigation, the contact button and portfolio buttons are placed in a strange position. It’s copy heavy, check out how little copy is used on the Eastridge website, it implies exclusivity. Need larger images, but only using the most luxurious and fabulous photos. Loose large faded illustrations. Notice how all the pages look a little samey.

Color Palette

Charcoal black, white, green (rich sage and dark olive), and neutrals form the SKC color palette. They create a timeless and sophisticated palette that exudes simplicity, warmth and quality materials. The combination of these classic hues evokes a sense of modernity while still maintaining a traditional aesthetic. Introducing a couple of dark colors allows us to create contrast where appropriate. The website won’t be heavy on color, but will be used strategically when working with photos and sections.

It might be worth considering if you’d like to occasionally present with your full name. Sometimes the attraction is working with a specific designer, vs the appearance of working with a company.

Pair a serif and sans serif - its a way to have two different tones in your messaging. The former is elegance, personal and welcoming, the latter is clean, professional and factual. Newsletters + website will endeavor to match font choices.

Tackle the website only when all fresh photos are collated. Keep it clean and simple, let the photos do the talking, and keep the copy minimal. Use the colors to contrast sections between light and dark. Website Ideas

Photos, photos, photos! Photos sell everything. This means styling spaces and hiring a professional photographer. But it could also mean changing how you approach photography. We can also use stock where appropriate, such as fabric samples etc.

Reference Architectural Digest or The Cut Take the opportunity to have people in your images, but make it magazine fashion worthy Document wherever possible, get close ups, detail shots, talk about materiality, liminal spaces, show the decay - anything that creates charm. Even document the story of the project, ie where were you, what is the landscape like, what are the gardens like, what are the problems. Seek and use natural light wherever possible

Don’t shy away from showing more process based images, this is fantastic for both website, blog, newsletters and social. We can still admire a space for it’s architecture and materials - whilst dreaming what it could look like when finished. Show the Process
