Customers begin by selecting a hat from more than 100 options, choosing their favorite amongst various sizes and colors. From there, they’re invited to add accessories to adorn their hat, such as ribbons, chains, feathers, charms and more. Feather Hat Bar’s team then puts the customized hat together, allowing customers to walk out with their hat that same day. The store also sells clothing, jewelry, a selection of children’s hats, boots and candles. While cowboy and flat brim hats are most popular, Feather Hat Bar sells several other hat styles. “It’s a real experience,” said Nicole Freeman, owner of Feather Hat Bar. “It’s not just a walk in, grab something real quick and leave. It’s interactive, and people can make something that is personal to them. Customers leave with a one-of-a-kind accessory that’s unlike anything else.” The boutique shop at Valley Grove is Feather Hat Bar’s first brick and mortar location. The store has an open concept,
featuring a wall of hats on display that customers can try on. Once they’ve found their perfect fit, the stylist meets the customer at a large counter – “the hat bar” – where the magic is created. There are usually one to two people in the store; however, Feather Hat Bar focuses primarily on corporate events and weddings, with a separate staff for these events. They can accommodate around 20 people for an in-store event, but the business usually travels off-site for parties over 20 people — they’ll travel all over the country. In their store, they frequently have bachelorette or birthday parties, concertgoers, mom and daughter dates, or engaged couples. Off-site, they’ve done corporate events for as many as 325 people. Cowboy themes continue to reign supreme as the most popular event theme. The Hat Bar’s fully customized hats typically range between $150-$250 depending on the hat style and accessories. One of Freeman’s favorite events was in Sundance, Utah, where they helped
