You will see that the website has a new look developed in line with updated content and information. The content reflects, where possible, regulations which have been agreed for LGPS 2014. Additionally three new short topic based videos have been added to www.lgps2014.org giving more information on the cost of the scheme as well as how pensions in the career average scheme are calculated and when they are payable. These videos are available in English and Welsh and with and without subtitles.
Further updates are required once LGPS (Transitional Provisions, Savings and Amendment) regulations have been finalised.
Local Government Association - guidance update LGPS Regulations 2013
23 December 2013
Members who have an interest in the latest developments of the LGPS (Transitional Provisions and Savings) Regulations 2013 will be interested in an update from the Local Government Association. The CIPP Policy team received the following communication from Mary Lamb, Pensions Adviser of the Local Government Association (LGA) who has asked that we circulate the latest news to any members who have a keen interest in the latest developments of the Local Government Pension Scheme (Transitional Provisions and Savings) Regulations 2013. “You will be aware that the Local Government Pension Committee (LGPC) secretariat (as part of the LGA) released Payroll and HR Guides in September 2013. These guides cover the minimum additions and/or changes needed by employers to effectively manage the new Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) from April 2014. Since these guides were released the LGPS Regulations 2013 have been made and laid by Parliament and the guides required some updates to bring the content in line with these regulations. More fundamentally the guides also required updates to cover areas provided for in the draft LGPS (Transitional Provisions and Savings) Regulations 2013. However given that these regulations are still in draft form and in the final stages of being agreed it’s more difficult to provide the definitive position. Given the need for information the LGPC Secretariat have updated both guides based on the laid LGPS Regulations 2013 and our current understanding of the provisions to be contained in the Transitional Regulations and provided access to these updated guides in the form of PDF documents showing the tracked changes. The updated PDF version of the HR Guide can be found here and the updated PDF version of the Payroll Guide can be found here . Work is underway to amend the online guides to reflect the changes in these PDF versions.
Although the Transitional Regulations have not yet been made and laid before Parliament, it is our understanding that they will reflect the tracked changes shown in the PDF guides.”
