The website also includes a section on taking a job in tax with stories and testimonials from people who are currently employed or have had a very successful career in the world of tax. It is easy to access via laptops, mobile phones and tablets and it is a handy place to pick up valuable resources and extra assistance on specific topics that students may come across.

There is a separate section for student advisers and for those engaged in helping and supporting students.

Factsheets are available for download; and included are podcasts and templates to help with tax questions and queries to HMRC.

LITRG would welcome feedback on the TGFS website and have produced a short survey with the chance to win high street vouchers to the value of £50.

Student Loan notices for the new tax year

Each year in February/March, HMRC issues large numbers of Student Loan notices for the new tax year.

An issue was recently raised by one of our members which payroll bureau and agents may wish to highlight to their clients as a reminder.

The PDV viewing feature normally only shows notices for the current tax year, so employers have to select the next 'Tax Year' from the drop down box and enter the appropriate dates if they want to see these notices before the next year starts on 6 April.

Student Loans – changes to incorporate into payroll software

From 2016 student loan repayments will be calculated against two thresholds.

HMRC’s Software Developers Support Team (SDST) have provided an update on the changes that will need to be incorporated into your payroll software.
