The AICC held its Southwest Summit, October 22-23, at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas, Texas. Southwest Re- gion Director Eric Elgin and his wife Julie of Oklahoma Interpak welcomed nearly 40 attendees at theTuesday evening reception.The program kicked offWednesday morning with AICC President Mike D’Angelo provid- ing an overview of AICC activities and programming. During the Southwest Summit, AICC members toured the Smurfit Kappa Experience Center.
lined what an organizational security landscape looks like; how to identify the types of threats there are in the workplace; the challenges to implementing an ef- fective security program; how to conduct a self-assess- ment of a facility; a review of specific recommenda- tions and how to put it all together. The next presentation was given by Kendrick Jones of Kivu Consulting entitled Cyber Security in a Man- ufacturing Environment – Best Practices . Jones, an Analyst in Cyber Risk Management, took the audience through in-plant hardware that can be the source of cyber threats;visited each department on the manufac- turing floor from design, to production, assembly and shipping. He asked the attendees to ask themselves “Where’s my information?” He closed by presenting several ransomware scenarios and how all forms of cy- ber-attack are on the rise. Attendees then took a tour of the Smurfit Kappa Ex- perience Center in nearby Irving,Texas. Jeroen Dank- baar,Director of Innovation & Development, led a tour of the Experience Center,which provides Smurfit Kap- pa designers and customers with several experiential opportunities from a fully equipped testing lab to an augmented reality retail environment and an eye track- ing preferences station.
