The county is actively working to integrate green initiatives into its infrastructure, including renewable energy and water conservation efforts. “We’ve secured grants to implement sustainability measures in new community centers,” says Litton. “These facilities will serve as resiliency hubs during disasters, providing charging stations, emergency supplies, and a space for residents to access information and support.” Osceola is also exploring ways to incorporate solar energy and rainwater collection systems into public buildings. “Sustainability and resiliency go hand in hand,” Litton notes. “We want to make sure our infrastructure is not only strong but also environmentally responsible.” Advocating for Resources at the State and Federal Levels Osceola County has positioned itself as a leader in disaster preparedness, leveraging state and federal resources to support its initiatives.
