April’s Selections for the New Worlds Reading Initiative
In April, students will impress themselves with how they have grown as readers. Through books with accessible vocabulary and structure, kindergarten and first-grade students may find themselves participating in read-alouds and reading together with their families more than they have before. Second-grade students will receive books that help them continue to build their independent reading confidence. Third, fourth, and fifth graders will receive books that keep them excited about reading, whether they are reading about relatable characters, interesting science, or entertaining adventures. The following pages describe the specific books children will receive this month.
