CIPP webcast on Optional Remuneration Arrangements (OpRA) 28 June 2017

Changes that came in from April 2017 do not just affect those employers operating salary sacrifice schemes.

Diana Bruce, CIPP senior policy liaison officer, spends a few minutes talking about the changes to the benefits code – Optional Remuneration Arrangements - and what arrangements other than those under salary sacrifice are impacted under the new rules.

CIPP webcast –Back to Basics for Automatic Enrolment 31 July 2017

Automatic enrolment may be business as usual for many but implementation is still an issue for all the employers who started PAYE on or after October 2012 whose staging dates run up to February 2018.

It feels like a very long time since implementing Automatic Enrolment (AE) began to be an issue for employers and their agents and advisors. In fact, it is nearly five years since the duties came into force in October 2012. For employers of all sizes who were around at the time, it is no longer an issue: staging dates have passed, workforces have been assessed and compliance declarations submitted. They are very much in the ‘business as usual’ point, with many larger employers also having completed their first three-year re-enrolment duties. Naturally, the focus of many AE training courses, articles and other support has also moved on. It is easy to forget, then, that implementation is still an issue for all the employers who started PAYE on or after 1 October 2012: they will have staging dates between May 2017 and February 2018. And for any employer starting on or after 1 October 2017, the duties apply immediately.

The CIPP has produced a webcast that goes back to basics on the AE duties and how to implement them, for the benefit of new employers and the agents and advisors that look after them.
