Upcoming HMRC Talking Points for tax agents 21 September 2017

Over the next couple of weeks HMRC’s Talking Points include automatic enrolment duties for new employers, real time PAYE tax code adjustments and demystifying certificates of residence for limited companies.

Automatic enrolment duties for new employers If your client becomes an employer for the first time on or after 1 October 2017, they will immediately have legal duties for their new member of staff. In this meeting we will take you through the duties and the latest news from the Pensions Regulator with time to answer your automatic enrolment and re-enrolment questions.

Basis Periods - looking at commencement years, changes to accounting date and overlapping periods Focusing on basis periods, a subject that’s prominent around the self-assessment peaks. We will look at the different rules that apply to commencement years, the effect on a basis period when there is a change of accounting date and overlapping periods.
