The Teacher Handbook provides guidance to establish clear procedures and expectations for successful, engaged, accountable reading experiences. This guidance includes ways to help students choose their books and decide if they will read on their own, with a partner, or in a small group.
Book-specific S.P.A.R.K. Guides walk students through the next two steps of the Framework with a clear structure and built- in review. Text-based thinking and writing prompts and creative activities keep reading accountable, student-managed, and engaging.
Reading Toolkit pages found in the Teacher Handbook give students strategies for handling challenges that all readers face, such as figuring out unfamiliar words, fix- up strategies for comprehension, tools for respectful discussion, and more.
