2022 Project highlights

Many projects were funded last year due to the generosity of you our SJAA donors! Thank you on behalf of all our beneficiaries!

Prime de Remerciement and Frais de fonctionment

Although not actual projects, the Prime and the Frais continue to be funded every year. The cover page shows a few of the teachers from the Lycee Sainte Marie school in Ilebo DR Congo that benefit from the Prime. The ‘Prime’ is a payment made to supplement the wages of the poorest teachers in eight schools in the Kasai, as they receive no wages during summer holidays. This provides a lifeline to them and their families. The Frais is supporting material for schools e.g. stationery. The Prime and the Frais are only possible because of the generosity of a large number of teachers and Governors in St George’s School Weybridge.

And now for projects … Refurbishment of classrooms, Domiongo

Over a number of years the classrooms have become damaged and a request to refurbish them was approved in November 2022. The materials have been ordered but are held up in Kinshasa waiting for transport by train because the dirt- track road between Ilebo and Domiongo has collapsed.
