BALMORAL CASTLE, ABERDEENSHIRE, SCOTLAND

Open to the public from April to July yearly, the Balmoral Castle offers 50,000 acres (20,000 hectares) in total area which houses grouse moors, forestry, and farmland, as well as managed herds of deer, Highland cattle, and ponies. Visits can also be arranged outside the period as long as the Royal family are not in residence. This estate house is located 9 miles (14 kilometers) west of Ballater and 50 miles (80 kilometres) west of Aberdeen in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The Balmoral has been one of the residences of the British royal family since 1852 after it was bought from the Farquharson family by Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria.
