With a €30m investment programme well underway at its Cork headquarters, Pipelife Ireland recently hosted Ireland’s Plumbing & Heating Magazine for a progress update. Continuing a heritage of proud local manufacturing dating back to 1970, Ireland’s leading supplier of high-quality plastic piping systems is investing in the latest sustainable equipment and processes. The first phase of its investment plan, completed in June 2024, entailed the replacement or upgrade of water cooling and raw material distribution networks across the entire plant. Six new high-speed, automated extrusion lines were installed and commissioned for PVC, ABS and PP products, with Pipelife also investing in a new purpose-built Renewables Academy for training, and an upgrade of offices, canteens, locker rooms and toilets. Four further high-speed, automated extrusion lines have subsequently been installed, with all older extrusion lines set

to be replaced by the end of 2027. Upon completion of the programme, the Cork site will offer 28 high-speed, automated extrusion lines with annual capacity to extrude 48,000 tonnes of pipe for the sewage, soil, cable protection, water, gas, roofline, rainwater, and plumbing and heating sectors. Having also invested significantly in its inhouse design capabilities, Pipelife’s systems are custom designed for each building and backed by full design- indemnity insurance and comprehensive aftersales support. Complementing its investment in equipment, facilities and services, the company has also embarked on a €4m three-year training programme, backed by foreign direct investment agency IDA Ireland, to upskill its 200-plus employees. Aiming to secure Pipelife’s position as a long-term producer of Guaranteed Irish piping systems for major merchant groups, builders and installers across the country, the investment is without parallel in its sector in Ireland.
