GRANTS BOOSTING OPPORTUNITIES FOR INSTALLERS WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE NATIONAL RESIDENTIAL RETROFIT PLAN IN IRELAND AND WARM HOMES PLAN IN NORTHERN IRELAND…

New funding for heat pumps

Funding has been extended to support the uptake of heat pumps and other sustainable energy solutions across households in both Ireland and Northern Ireland. Irish Energy Minister Darragh O’Brien launched a new National Residential Retrofit Plan on January 26, aimed at helping homeowners upgrade their homes with heat pumps, insulation and solar energy. A new fixed grant is available up a maximum of €12,500 for heat pumps, including €6,500 for the pump, €2,000 for upgrading radiators and pipework and a €4,000 bonus for the installation. An additional grant allows homeowners to upgrade their windows and doors to meet the standard needed to install

a heat pump. A previous restriction, requiring a minimum energy uplift of 100kW hours per square metre, per year for eligible installations, will be removed from March 3. Northern Ireland is, meanwhile, set to receive a specific allocation from the UK Government’s £15bn Warm Homes Plan launched on January 20. Low-income and fuel-poor families will be able to get full, UK Government- backed grants for heat pumps, smart controls, battery storage, solar panels and insulation. NI’s Sustainable Energy Programme is administered by the Energy Saving Trust on behalf of the Utility Regulator in NI, with further details on the additional funding to come.
