NORTHERN IRELAND’S GAS INDUSTRY ENJOYED A FANTASTIC EVENING OF CELEBRATION AND ENTERTAINMENT AT THE TITANIC HOTEL, WRITES PHOENIX ENERGY GENERAL SALES MANAGER NEIL MCCRACKEN… Gas Industry Gala Ball returns to Belfast
After a seven-year hiatus, November saw the return of the Gas Industry Gala Ball, to recognise and celebrate the huge success story that is our local gas industry. Fittingly, the historic drawing office in the Titanic Hotel played host to a fantastic evening of celebration and entertainment in recognition of the contribution that local independent businesses have played since the introduction of gas to NI, almost 30 years ago. Hosted by Phoenix Energy’s Brand Ambassador Pete Snodden, the evening began with a reflection on the huge changes in the industry since the fledging NINGA nights at La Mon Hotel, where less than 12 downstream installation companies were involved.
Fast forward 30 years and we have a network that is worth c£1bn, connecting 300,000 homes and businesses, and with an estimated 3,000 people employed locally - delivering gas-related products and services right across Northern Ireland. It was fantastic to be able to recognise all of the unsung heroes that work tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure these independent businesses deliver the exceptional services that we are now accustomed to – many of whom also carry out extraordinary charitable work in the communities in which they serve. We were delighted to be joined on the night by Phoenix’s nominated charity, Lighthouse, to hear about the vital work they do and help raise over £1,500 on the evening – thank you again for your
fantastic support for such a deserving charity. Entertainment on the night was provided by local musicians, Wonder Days, who played throughout our meal, before handing over to comedian Shane Todd, fresh from completing his recording at the Late Late Show. Finally, we were treated to some more music from the fantastic Big Kahuna to see out the evening. Thank you to our event sponsors and everyone who made the event such a success, and please look out for details on this year’s event to secure your place.
