Career Progression Pathways 21 CPD HOURS EACH

Whatever your career goals, we are here to help you achieve them. Our Career Progression Pathways give you the chance to focus on the next step in your career in depth.

Career Progression Pathway - Artificial Intelligence Imagine an accountant who never sleeps, never makes mistakes, and tirelessly processes mountains of data in seconds. This is the power of artificial intelligence and, beyond mere automation, it is beginning to reshape how accountants strategise, predict, and advise. Are you ready?

Career Progression Pathway: Trusted Business Advisor Accountants are repeatedly cited as the most trusted advisors to business. But how do you translate that into fee earning business advisory work? This pathway explains how to gain the trust of your clients, help them to develop and grow their businesses, and address the key challenges.

Career Progression Pathway: Getting to Partner What is it that differentiates those who make partner from those who don’t? Many technically brilliant accountants find themselves frustrated that they have not made partner. Professional credibility, communication skills, and leadership are equally important. This pathway will help you to develop and grow into a fully rounded accountant ready to be a partner.

Career Progression Pathway: Finance Data Analysis Accountants understand data. So, data analysis creates an opportunity for you to be at the heart of decision-making, by using the latest technologies, methodologies and tools to provide valuable business insights to your organisation.

20

Career Progression Pathways 21 CPD HOURS EACH

Career Progression Pathway: Finance Business Partner As a finance business partner you are a trusted advisor in your organisation. To be effective, you need credibility and influence, to be articulate and proactive, and to have a thorough understanding of how your business can create value.

Career Progression Pathway: Finance Leader As an aspiring finance leader, you need to develop your credibility and leadership skills, but also consider what is changing in the workplace, and what new skills might be required in the drive for a sustainable and resilient future.

Career Progression Pathway: Expert Communicator Communicating accounting and finance messages can be hard whether you are in practice or in business, but you are only as good as the influence you have or the people you work with. This pathway will help you to become an expert finance communicator.

Career Progression Pathway: Chief Financial Officer What is it that marks out the successful candidates for the top jobs? They must be technically excellent, but they need more than that. Abstract concepts like resilience, credibility and authority are critical and too often left to chance. This pathway will help you to develop a plan to become the fully rounded CFO candidate.

What’s the Difference Between CPD Types?

Research shows that retention is at its lowest when the learner is passive, just watching a presentation. We believe that as serious professionals, accountants deserve so much more. Our resources are designed to actively engage you and to make you think. As a result, knowledge retention is higher. And that’s important, because if you are going to spend time away from fee earning work, you need to make sure you can remember what you’ve learnt.

But one size doesn’t fit all. We offer a wide range of different types of CPD to suit every preference. Here is a guide to the different types of CPD included at accountingcpd:

Courses

The flagship of our range. With articles, case studies, videos, discussions, scenarios and quizzes, our courses showcase the full variety of online professional development. 4-hour courses Over 150 4-hour courses on technical accounting and tax topics, business advisory and professional skills. Update modules Short 1-hour courses on recent updates in tax, financial reporting, audit and other regulatory updates.

Tax bulletins Monthly 1-hour updates providing analysis of the latest issues in tax.

Webinars and videos

Our innovative approach to webinars and videos has seen attendance grow rapidly.

Round-up webinars Monthly magazine style webinars for all accountants, with guests discussing issues facing accountants and news affecting the profession. Lunch and learn webinars Monthly webinars designed for accountants in practice, providing up to date briefings on tax, financial reporting, audit and other regulatory issues. Videos Watch the best of our author interview videos and gain CPD points as you go, and this year for the first time, settle back and watch our extended interviews with leaders in the profession.

22

What’s the Difference Between CPD Types?

Bite-sized learning Fit CPD around your busy schedule by completing our 15-minute bites. We have a catalogue of over 400, and we’re releasing new bites every week. CPD Bites Quick briefings every week on technical and skills topics for every accountant. News Bites Industry experts comment on a current news story and its sometimes unexpected impact on the accountancy profession.

Accountant’s Update Programmes (22 hours)

Like a personal trainer to help you to spread your CPD throughout the year, our programmes offer a curated route through all the major updates across the year, with content released regularly and a facilitator to help guide your learning. Five alternative routes through the programmes offer every accountant a relevant track.

Career Progression Pathways (21 hours)

Achieve your next career goal by embarking on a Career Progression Pathway. Pathways focus on developing the skills and knowledge required for a specific role. Two new pathways this year will add to the five already available.

The accountingcpd courses are particularly beneficial to me as they are not just webinars, they are broken down into articles, videos, interactive questions and quizzes. I therefore find them a lot more engaging and find I can learn more from them. Megan Merner, RBS Apprentice, Plummer Parsons

23

Achieving Your CPD Requirements with accountingcpd At accountingcpd, we make it easier for you to meet your CPD requirements. You choose what and how you want to learn. The system stores all your records in one place, and shows you how close you are to completing your CPD requirement. As a Practice or Team Manager, you have access to summary records and to each member of your team’s individual CPD record. With everyone’s records in one place, you can quickly and easily monitor and ensure compliance.

There is value in providing CPD for your team and there is an organisational benefit too. For the accountants working here, it’s brilliant. The fact that there is so much for them to choose from, it’s been a useful

resource for them to access the learning as they need it. Gail McEvoy, Principal Partner, McEvoy Craig Accountants & Auditors
