Catapult Plans To Expand On Record Growth BY GREG KISHBAUGH
FPA Supports FFRA’s Plastic Film Recycling Directory The Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) is supporting the Flexible Film Recycling Alliance (FFRA)’s new Plastic Film Recycling Directory. This resource is designed to facilitate the col- lection and recycling of flexible film materials.
Catapult Print & Packaging, Orlando, Florida, has begun 2025 with a major investment in new machinery to enable the label specialist to continue scaling up after achieving a $60 million turnover in 2024. Established six years ago, Catapult is focused on increasing capacity in 2025. The company’s $60 million 2024 turnover follows two consec- utive months of record sales in the fourth quarter and a year that saw Catapult onboard more than 80 new customers while maintaining a customer retention rate of 98 percent.
The directory serves as a tool for business- es, municipalities, and consumers by helping them identify recycling programs, facilities, and partners that accept flexible film materi- als, including plastic bags, wraps, and other polyethylene films. An initiative of the Plastics Industry Asso- ciation, FFRA is committed to advancing the recycling of flexible plastic films. Their goal is to increase recycling rates by improving ed- ucation, expanding access to recycling, and building consumer confidence.
In a market that contracted by 20 percent during 2024, Catapult grew by 40 percent; it hopes to reach the $70 million mark by the end of 2025. A second Com 500 Coater machine, ordered from Ravenwood, will reportedly enable Catapult to double capacity. Aligned to Catapult’s Linerless+ proposition, which offers a choice of traditional or glue gap linerless labels, the new machine has been specified with glue gap technology to provide the flexibility for both options. The advanced Com 500 Coater enables simultaneous application of pressure sensitive adhesive and UV curable silicone lacquer, with a Nordson adhesive pre-melting and delivery system that allows for to up to 12 slot heads with screw adjustments for glue stripe widths. It can accommodate variable line widths from 3mm to 45mm, and slits and rewinds multiple lanes into finished reels, in a single pass.
