So, why do so many businesspeople not live this way, as well? Why should growing a company be any different than competing in an elite sport? That’s why the key to building and growing a suc- cessful business rest outside of the hustle and grind and instead comes down to one important thing many of us keep missing. The key is to take care of yourself first and find your inner happiness. Take care of your body, your mind and your soul. Feed yourself nourish- ing food. Meditate often and rest when you need to. Find what makes you happy and weave that into your days. So often do we get so caught up in our work that we lose our own happiness along the way. We lose ourselves and become a slave to the very thing we once strived for so badly. For many years, I convinced myself that FanSaves came first, above all else. I was adamant that that was how it had to be, and I rarely gave myself any grace (nor time for rest). I scarfed down unhealthy foods in front of my computer while working until ungodly hours and I rarely took time to reflect and meditate. I was so busy going from one thing to the next that I didn’t make time to enjoy the journey. I was so stressed that most nights I could hardly fall asleep. FanSaves was growing but many days I felt like I was drowning and like there were never enough hours in the day. It wasn’t until I realized I was
each day. I meditate and reflect daily, and I take days off when I need to. Most of all, I no longer allow guilt to live rent-free inside my head when I focus on myself ahead of the business. And guess what? When I started doing these things and putting myself first, FanSaves natu - rally began scaling more than it ever has. We’ve reached new heights in our company and there are massive opportunities that keep presenting themselves to us; flinging themselves onto our doorstep the more I find peace and happiness within myself. It’s important to work hard. Just like that high-performing athlete, showing up and giving it your all must still be part of the game plan, that’s what will always get you to the next level but the biggest key to success falls beyond the daily grind and the non-stop hustle. It truly comes from within and the moment you decide to put yourself, your needs, and your happiness first is the moment your company can truly soar to new levels.
neglecting myself and my happiness that every- thing changed, first within me and then exter - nally. I can attest that the biggest key to success in our business came when I decided to put myself and my happiness ahead of everything else, for once in my life. I decided to heal my workaholic tenden- cies and need for perfectionism. I now take more time to rest when I need to and I nourish myself with healthier foods and make time to work out
