Kolling Institute Year in Review 2024

Support from Philanthropic Partners

Advancing health through partnership At the University of Sydney, the Advancement Portfolio helps drive life-changing research at the Kolling Institute by connecting donors and alumni with a shared vision for better health. Through strategic fundraising and engagement, we turn generosity into breakthroughs, supporting innovation in medical science and improving lives across Australia and beyond.

The Advancement Portfolio has been proud to support University of Sydney academics and researchers at the Kolling Institute during a year marked by generous support from visionary donors. Mr Paul Gobits, has given a deeply generous and transformational gift of $11,000,000 to create a Chair in Pancreatic Cancer Research. Mr Gobits brings an extremely personal motivation to this commitment. His experience as both a carer and an advocate has informed every aspect of this gift ensuring it reflects not only scientific and clinical ambition but also compassion for the patient journey.

Additional gifts from anonymous donors and national and international foundations - totaling over $1.13 million - will transform and elevate work in arthritis research, MuscleMap, brain cancer, pancreatic cancer, bowel cancer and renal research. As we reflect on the transformative gifts received over the past year, we are inspired by the generosity of our donors and the unwavering support of researchers and academics at the Kolling Institute. Together, we are not only advancing medical science, we are shaping a healthier future. We extend our deepest thanks to all who share in this journey of impact, innovation and hope.
