The years after 50 represent a great opportunity to grow in exciting and new ways, but it requires ideas and a good plan. AARP offers valuable resources to help senior citizens fulfill their dreams and stayed engaged with their families, communities and friends.

One in five Black Americans in the United States are caregivers who devote more than 34% of their annual incomes to providing care for their loved ones without any assistance of paid help. Because of this, AARP has created a dedicated online Caregiving Resource Center and Connecting Caregivers to Communities Program that help members find caregiving resources in their local communities and provide the life-giving support that many need. These resources help members learn how to manage the complexities of caring for a family member or a friend. Members also receive important infor- mation on services that support their fi- nancial and physical wellbeing – namely, how Medicare and Social Security work and how to apply as well as cost-saving benefits from insurance and prescription discounts.

What is true is that 50 represents an op- portunity to enhance our quality of life with all the invaluable experiences we have accrued in decades past to live our lives to the fullest. It is no secret that many of us receive an invitation in the mail to join AARP by the time we turn 50 – sometimes many times over. Whether you there, almost there or older, AARP provides many options for families in our communities and across different cultures. AARP not only offers access to edu- cational information and resources in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands through a strong local footprint, but also helps build community through programming aimed at supporting the cultural and social needs of families throughout our nation. With almost 38 million members, AARP is the nation’s largest non-profit organi- zation dedicated to promoting the issues that matter most to older Americans, including health care, financial security and personal fulfillment – better known as “health, wealth and self.” AARP members have access to many resources online and through their local offices, where they can learn digitally or through in-person workshops on how to take care of themselves and their loved ones.

Whether you are searching for a job, advanc- ing your career or preparing for retirement, AARP provides resources such as the AARP Job Board and Se- nior Community Service Employ- ment Program that help members find a job and evolving digital economy.
