TO THE CHAPTER INVISIBLE

initial membership with our august body in 1967 and his fellowship with a group of five other Kappas, who were known as THE SIX, beginning in 1991.” “One thing is for sure, Herman was a Kappa’s Kappa. He was a leader in the lo- cal, provincial and national levels for all of his years as a Kappa. Herman B. Thomas was the man, the husband, the father, the Kappa and a member of THE SIX. Long live the memory and legacy of our brother, Herman B. Thomas.” “Herman’s usual greeting, ‘Hello my Brother’, indicated to me, that he felt a unique kinship to other Kappas. Being regarded as a Brother is important to most Kappas, and that greeting is indicative of the fidelity that Brother Thomas felt for Kappas regardless of their chapter of initia- tion, or their chapter of affiliation,” stated Brother Lattimore. “Whenever Herman called me on the telephone, it was great to hear his first words ‘Hello my Brother’ because you realized that whatever mood you were in, or whatever issue Herman was facing, was secondary to his relationship to you. In my opinion, Herman’s greeting made real the attitude expressed by Dionne Warwick in her best-selling song ...‘That’s What Friends are For,’” stated Lattimore. “Brother Thomas loved his family and his children. After having lived much of his adult life in Harrisburg, PA, Herman returned to his native State of Georgia in 2018. Eventually being back home and near to his children, Herman seemed to have found the place he wanted to be for his transition to the Chapter Invisible. Herman’s life was well-lived. His legacy is well-established. His memory in our minds is everlasting.” Brother Thomas is survived by his children Gerald, Jason (Ashley) Thomas and Ta- mara Saucer (Marcus), two grandchildren Marley and Olivia, all of Atlanta Georgia. His sisters Sheila Thomas-Armstrong, Ali- cia Thomas, Sandra Thomas-Washington (deceased). His long- time companion Barbara Barksdale.
