Meet Don Mosher

Don graduated high school in 1968 in Keen, New Hampshire and then went to college at the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, Connecticut. 1970 was a busy and memorable year for him as Elaine and Don married, (they are now on their 52nd year together), Don graduated from the Culinary Institute and received his draft notice the day before the two married! Elaine and Don were on their way to California and he enlisted in the Army when they reached their destination. Due to his prior education he was assigned as an aide to General officers in the Army. Don’s first assignment was an aide to 5 -Star General Omar Bradley. General Bradley was retired by then and lived in Beverly Hills, California. Elaine and Don lived in a motel on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood and the General would send a car down each day to take Don to his house. This was a temporary assignment and he finished his service working for two commanding generals at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, New York. After leaving the Army, Don went to work for the California Youth Authority as a cook. While working he went back to school and obtained Vocational Teaching credentials. He then worked as a Vocational Instructor in the prison system for 32 years. In 2001, He was awarded a Life Long Achievement Award as an educator. Don retired in 2004. In 2010 Elaine and Don came to Florida to visit Elaine’s sister, Lori Tucker, now Lori Rushton, who was already living here at Seven Lakes. After the visit the couple decided to start a new chapter in their lives and moved to Seven Lakes in December of 2010. “I have always believed that a person should donate time or talent to the community that they live in, to help make it a better place to live. In the almost 12 years that I have been at Seven Lakes I have been part of many things. I was part of a small group that developed Trivia into the success that it has become. Several years ago I was asked to arrange Night Golf. Over the years it has developed into a popular event. The last few years I have taken over the organization of the 4th of July Parade and the Kentucky Derby. I also participate in Karaoke, Bingo, and have been a member of the Lifestyle Committee for the last two years. I am also a Condo Representative,” shared Don. Don, thank you for all that you do here at Seven Lakes. Thank you for sharing your philosophy with us. We sure are lucky to have you and Elaine here!
