SAFETALK CLUBTALK/TEENTALK SAFE PLACE THE GREENWICH INTERAGENCY TEAM

3:15 PM SafeHaven counselors depart to pick up resident children from their respective schools around Fairfield County and return to the shelter for enrichment activities, help with homework and serve a delicious dinner donated by a local family. 3:30 PM An Outreach crisis counselor meets with a youth referred by the Greenwich Youth Services Department and the Greenwich Police Department. They collaborate on behalf of the JRB (Juvenile Review Board) to assign a prosocial after school activity and community service to avoid court proceedings and punishment for the minor.

A homeless mother rings the SafeHaven doorbell to seek shelter for her three young children. The desperate mother had secured a temporary place to stay with a friend, but there is no room at the location for her children. 7:00 AM TeenTalk counselors report for a busy day of student support services at 16 middle and high schools across Fairfield County. SafeHaven clinical psychologist, nurse practitioner and day staff arrive at the shelter to begin morning assessments.

4:12 PM SafeHaven program manager goes above and beyond to secure furniture donations for a resident family moving in to their first apartment that he also helped them locate and apply for.

2:07 PM A TeenTalk counselor meets with a student who discloses social difficulty with peers. The counselor recommends social strategies, extracurricular school groups for the student to get involved in, and a planned check-in schedule moving forward. A call comes into the Helpline for a youth struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues. Crisis clinicians initiate immediate outreach. 12:05 PM SafeHaven staff teaches two pre-school age residents how to make a fun and nutritious pizza lunch and fruit salad dessert. 1:42 PM 11:10 AM A SafeTalk presentation is taking place at a local elementary school.

5:03 PM Ten teens gather for a weekly Lighthouse LGBTQ+ youth group meeting in Stamford. 8:05 PM SafeHaven residents use donated comfort care packages of new toiletries and pajamas to get ready for a bedtime story, then lights out for the little ones.
