OBJECT LESSONS continued the Bible, Ruth and Orpah. They were natives of the land of Moab and both were sinners. Each one of these circles has black all around it, re minding us of sin. After losing their husbands and experiencing great sor row, the young women both decided to go with Naomi to live with the people of God. We will let these scissors represent the sorrow which came into their lives. I will cut down the middle of each of these circles and show you what happened to the two girls. The first one will represent Orpah. (Cut the one which has been twisted.) Look, she still clings to her sins and her old life. She went back to her people and her gods. We will drop this circle of paper into this black handbag to remind us that Orpah died in the dark. Now, let us cut the other circle to see what happened to Ruth. Her sins dropped away and she forsook her people to live in the light with the people of God. We will hang this cir cle around the bright light to remind us that Ruth made a wise choice when she left her people and her sin to live in the light with the peo ple of God. Ruth made many wise decisions following this one. She decided that she would be obedient to her mother- in-law, Naomi. When Naomi told her to glean in the field of Boaz, she obeyed. “ And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field. So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law” (Ruth 2:22,23). God still rewards those who are obedient and serve Him faithfully, as He did for Ruth. Because of her obedience, she met and married Boaz, God’s choice for her. OBJECT: A piece of paper 9 x 11 inches. (Fold in thirds so the size is 3 x 11 inches. Fold it again in the other direction, making the size 3 x 5 inches. Open the paper and write the word “ Ruth” on the center panel with two letters above and two below the middle fold. Fold the right panel over the center, and just above the “R” in “ Ruth,” print a “ T.” Cut away all the remainder of this panel. You now have the word “ truth.” Fold the left panel over, and on top of the letters “T ” and “ R,” print “Y” and Jan. 20, 1957 R u t h a n d T r u t h

“ O.” Then cut away the remainder of the panel, leaving -the word “Youth.” Fold the bottom part of the paper backwards, and you have the word “ you.” ) LESSON: This paper has the word “you” printed on it and it contains a message everyone should hear. I am sure you have never seen a piece of paper like it. As I open it, the word “you” is changed to “ youth.” It reminds me of a verse in the Bible, “ Remember

now thy Creator in the days of thy youth . . .” (Eccl. 12:1). There are many ways of remembering God, and Ecclesiastes 12:13 tells us two of the most important ways in which we should remember Him, “ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his command ments. . . .” One of the first com mandments for the unsaved person to obey is found in Acts 16:31, “ . . . Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved . . , .” Opening this paper further, I find that the word “ youth” changes into the word “ truth,” reminding us of Ecclesiastes 1:13, “ . . . I gave my heart to seek and search out by wis dom concerning all things that are done under heaven . . . .” It is splen did when youth wants the truth. We will open the paper further and see what we find. The word “ truth” is changed into the word “ Ruth.” In Ruth 3:5, 6 we read, “ And she .said unto her, A ll that thou say- est unto me I will do. And she went down unto the floor, and did accord ing to all that her mother in law bade her.” Here we find a young woman, Ruth, who was wise in obeying the way of truth suggested to her by Naomi, her mother-in-law. Each of us should follow her example.
