4.1.3 Congruent Triangles (continued) Example 4 Proving Overlapping Triangles Congruent

In this example, as in the previous example, two triangles are proven to be congruent. The same general plan is used: show that the corresponding sides are congruent and that the corresponding angles are congruent. It is given that two pairs of segments are perpendicular. If two segments are perpendicular, then a right angle is formed by those two segments. The Third Angle Theorem is often used when proving that two triangles are congruent. The Third Angle Theorem states that if two angles in one triangle are congruent to two angles in a second triangle, then the third angles must also be congruent.
