■ The top 10 operators account for 30% of all public sector gyms, 38% of public sector members and 41% of public sector market value. ■ In the last 12 months, the top 10 operators have seen a drop in their combined gym count. They now have five fewer gyms between them (-0.7% vs 2023). ■ The total number of members across the top 10 operators has risen by 75,000 (+6.2%) and the combined market value by £63m (+11.9%). ■ GLL remains the UK’s leading fitness operator in the public sector by number of gyms, with 195 gyms. (See interview, page 111.) ■ SLM (Everyone Active), with 175 gyms, remains in second place. (See interview, page 120.) ■ Freedom Leisure completes the top three operators, with 97 gyms. ■ The top three operators account for 19% of all public sector gyms in the UK. The top 10 account for 30%.

■ GLL, the leading UK public sector operator, operates four more gyms than it did in 2023 (see page 111). ■ SLM (Everyone Active) – the only other public sector operator to operate over 100 centres – has gained 12 gyms since 2023 (see page 120). ■ Freedom Leisure, YMCA and High Life Highland are the only other operators in the top 10 that operate more gyms in 2024 than in 2023 (+2, +2 and +1 respectively). ■ The top 10 operators are the same as in 2023.
