What I did: During the first four weeks of my internship, it was my duty to research our company’s history, our products and how we market them, and the systems we use to operate on a daily basis. While I was doing this research, I was creating a presentation that I would eventually present to my boss and our sales team. Once I gave my presentation and was completely knowledgeable of our company, I was ready to start cold calling leads and prospects. The leads and prospects that I cold called were primarily golf course superintendents across Wisconsin and Illinois. My goal was to sell golf course materials such as top dressing and bunker sands, divot mixes, and other landscaping materials. I was able to see if they have purchased from us in the past with the help of our CRM database, Epicor. I cold called approximately 35 golf course superintendents every day and finished with 710 cold calls made and over $21,000 in sales generated for Waupaca Sand & Solutions. I was also in charge of creating social media posts on our Twitter and LinkedIn pages. What I liked: The laid-back, welcoming atmosphere that I worked in and the amazing coworkers I had around me were what made this internship so great. Being able to communicate and work together as a team helped me become more confident in my position and perform better. I also enjoyed having the ability to work at my own pace and not rushed like every other job I had before this. Waupaca Sand & Solutions treated me like family, not just a number.

Future Dream Job: To become a marketing manager for a professional sports team.
