What I did: I specialized in writing and renewing business in the manufacturing sector of commercial line insurance for Sentry Insurance. I decide whether to offer insurance to a risk, under what terms, and for how much premium. I strike a balance between risk and caution, while driving profitability for the company. Much of this work is done with the help of actuaries, sales professionals, and fellow underwriters. I also am actively pursuing professional insurance designations and taking professional development courses. What I liked: I love that every day is different. Each account presents different challenges, and it is truly a role where I am learning something new every day. My colleagues are incredible, and I’m grateful that my professional and personal development is just as important to the company as the work I do on a daily basis.
Future Dream Job: Director of underwriting.
