lower maintenance requirements,” Makhanya explains. “This is achieved through advanced hydraulic systems, modern control technologies and integrated ESCO wear technology.” Singleton says the ENDURON® Elite screen range has attracted particular attention due to its high capacity exciter technology. “Our latest designs incorporate some of the largest exciters available in the market, generating up to 1.28 mega-newtons of force,” Singleton says. “On large screening applications we can operate with only two exciters where competing designs typically require three. That reduces exciter maintenance requirements by approximately 30%, resulting in higher equipment availability and lower operating costs.” Local manufacturing strengthens customer support Growing market acceptance is reflected in the increasing number of project awards secured across Africa including multiple ENDURON® Elite screen installations for new gold and rare earth developments. “The strong order intake has kept our South African manufacturing facility exceptionally busy, reflecting growing confidence in locally manufactured crushing and screening solutions,” Singleton says. “Our continued investment in local manufacturing and aftermarket support enables us to respond faster while providing customers with long-term technical support.” A key example is the expansion of Weir’s ENDURON® screen media manufacturing operation. What began as a 150 m² facility has grown into a 3,500 m² production plant with the latest expansion set to double monthly production capacity, shorten lead times and support increasing demand throughout Africa. Makhanya believes this combination of local manufacturing, application engineering and collaborative customer support will become increasingly important as mining companies seek greater value from their processing assets. “Mines are looking for partners who can deliver reliable supply together with genuine technical expertise, not simply products,” she concludes. “Our focus is on working alongside customers - whether they operate Weir equipment or not - to improve plant performance, optimise maintenance strategies and deliver long- term operational value.” n

clay-rich material accelerated wear and increased crushing resistance. For JD Singleton, Comminution Director EMEA at Weir, the project illustrates the value of combining local technical support with global engineering resources. “We are able to bring together local application knowledge and global engineering capability,” says Singleton. “Customers benefit from expertise developed across multiple regions and operating environments, allowing us to develop solutions that deliver measurable improvements in performance.” Proven results across multiple commodities The success of the Thabazimbi project has reinforced Weir’s strategy of incorporating premium ESCO® wear technology into its latest ENDURON® crusher range, while also making these upgrades available to existing crusher installations. Another South African customer operating in the chrome sector has already demonstrated the benefits of this approach. After replacing standard liners with ESCO® liners, wear life increased from four months to six months, significantly improving maintenance scheduling, inventory planning and overall operating efficiency. On the screening side, ENDURON® screen media panels are delivering similarly positive outcomes. At a major iron ore operation in Liberia, Weir introduced ENDURON® screen media to improve drainage efficiency and eliminate blinding challenges on dewatering screens. “The solution helped stabilise downstream processing performance while improving classification efficiency,” Makhanya says. “Our technical teams continue working with the customer to identify further optimisation opportunities.” Supporting Africa’s next generation of comminution plants These aftermarket successes coincide with growing adoption of ENDURON® crushers and ENDURON® Elite screens across Africa as mining companies pursue higher throughput, greater reliability and lower lifecycle costs. “Mines are increasingly selecting these crushers and screens because they combine high capacity and stable performance with
