MPCT - The Royal Navy Recruiters Guide

WORKING WITH MPCT RECRUITER’S GUIDE

1

HOW CAN MPCT HELP YOU AS A RECRUITER?

We recognise that many candidates in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines pipeline need nurturing and guidance so that they can commence their career. Some will never be able to join, others may have just a few development needs to get them close to being ready for assessment and others may be some way off closing the gap to be ready. For those candidates who you feel will fall short of the required standards, it is important we are able to offer them the opportunity to develop their potential and maximize the opportunity they are given at selection

– we have identified Military Preparation Colleges as the ideal platform to provide our applicants with additional preparation to improve their chances of passing CPC successfully. We need candidates who arrive at our Assessment Centres, and Phase 1 Training Establishments to be prepared and able to fulfil their true potential. So whether their development area is fitness, basic education or their personal qualities, attending Military Preparation courses is an ideal way to close those development gaps and prepare them in the best possible way.

There are a number of Military Preparation Establishments, but we have chosen to work extensively with one because it reaches the highest standards of performance and criteria demanded by the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.

2

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

“The MOU signing represents the official linkage be- tween our two organisations which has already been in place informally for some time. The Royal Marines are very much looking forward to working with MPCT, developing the relationship further and helping learn- ers understand about the career opportunities within the Royal Marines and achieve a positive outcome.”.

The signing of the MOU on 27th February, 2020, was a historic and momentous occasion for both parties and the first of its kind. This event was a formal recognition of the mutual support and opportunities that we have identified together. The stakeholders who signed the MOU were Huw Lewis MBE (CEO), Captain Pete Viney RN, CNR. This agreement will mean that by working together, many more young people will be supported, nurtured, and educated, allowing them to achieve their ambition to serve their country.

MPCT employ a suite of resources which facilitate the ‘pointing’ process for the candidate’s referral where a recognised nurturing or support need is identified. This is supported by the dedicated partner referrals website, a tool that also provides the gateway for suitable candidates to be loaded on the monthly fitness assessment days. The agreed method to ‘point’ candidates to MPCT is to use the process outline below. This will ensure that we (RG) are able to track those candidates who have been pointed as part of the nurturing tool-kit capability and follow their development support and progression in support of the objectives of the MOU between ARITC and MPCT. They also provide us with bespoke printed collateral which supports the on-boarding process for any potential in-flight candidates that we have identified.
