Definition:
Visual merchandising is a retail strategy that maximises the aesthetics of a product with the intent to increase sales. Visual merchandising can also play a role in the look, feel and culture of a brand. If done well, it can create awareness while simultaneously increasing brand loyalty. Strong visual merchandising has a huge impact on the in-store customer experience. Merchandising refers to the variety of products available for sale and the display of those products. In retail commerce, visual display merchandising means merchandise sales using product design, selection, packaging, pricing and display to convince consumers to make a purchase. This includes the physical presentation of products; the decision about which product to present should corelate with the marketing & retail merchandising calendar.
