Celebrating the Women Who Hold the World Together — HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

I’m biased — but I really do have the world’s greatest mom.

But Mother’s Day isn’t just a celebration for moms in the traditional sense. It’s a day to honor all the women who have played pivotal roles in our lives. Whether it’s grandmas, aunts, sisters, coaches, teachers, or neighbors, these women deserve our appreciation and gratitude. Moms come in all different shapes and sizes. They don’t necessarily fit a single mold, but they all share something in common — a profound impact on our lives. The idea of a mother is not confined to a biological relationship. Many women assume an expansive role in various capacities, providing guidance, love, and support. “After all, without my mom, I literally wouldn’t be here!” I recently reflected on this while hiking with some of my guy friends. The conversation turned to a social media video reel that claimed that men and women do not need each other. This struck me as absurd. The notion that we can exist independently of each other overlooks the fundamental human connections that shape our lives. I, for one, cannot imagine my life without influential women like my mom and wife. After all, without my mom, I literally wouldn’t be here! Mothers, while they play a critical role, are often underappreciated. They are the glue holding many aspects of our world together. I’ve witnessed this not only in my family but also within Moxie Pest

Control. Many of our team members are mothers who exemplify reliability and excellence. Hands down, they are some of the best employees we have. Somehow, they manage to juggle their personal and professional responsibilities seamlessly, consistently delivering quality work. My mom has been there for me since day one. As the oldest of five boys, all grown with their own families, I’ve seen her endless capacity for love and support. There was never a moment when she wasn’t there for us when we needed her, despite the demands of raising five boys and managing her career. Her dedication ensured we were well cared for and taught us valuable lessons about dedication, unconditional love, and perseverance. Today, she continues to spread her love as the world’s best grandma. Let us remember and celebrate the remarkable women in our lives. Their contributions are incredible, and they truly deserve more than just one day of recognition. To all the moms and motherly figures out there, we hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day. Your strength, love, and dedication make the world go round, and for that, we are eternally grateful. –Austin Clark

PALETTE OF POSSIBILITIES

3 Painting Ideas to Bring in Spring

In spring, nature shows us everything new: budding plants to blooms galore. Kids see this metamorphosis, too, so why not use this season to help your kids grow their own creativity? Here are three ways to encourage their creativity through painting. NATURE-INFUSED MASTERPIECES For this activity, encourage kids to spend about half an hour outside picking their favorite leaves, flowers, or small twigs and rocks. While they’re collecting, set up paper and paint on a flat surface, but don’t add paintbrushes! Once they’ve picked their favorite bits of nature, bring them inside. Explain that they’ll be using these pieces of nature to stamp and brush, or they can even glue them onto the paper. This activity not only sparks creativity but also connects children with natural objects. They must think creatively to use these unconventional materials to construct a painting. BUBBLE WRAP PRINTING With this next project, you can recycle the bubble wrap from any packages you receive during the week. Kids can dip bubble wrap into different paint colors and press it into paper or even the cardboard of those same boxes. This will create a textured and unique print you can hang up in your home. This activity can introduce kids of all ages to various textures and printmaking. These textures will often look organic and mimic shapes in the

outside world, bringing another natural element into your activity.

GLOW-IN-THE-DARK PAINTING You can approach this magical project in a couple of different ways. All you need is glow-in-the-dark paint and some paper. One option is to have them paint a nature-inspired

picture and then, when it dries, charge it under some light to reveal beautiful colors. You can also tell them to draw a secret message or picture and then paint over it. When the paint dries, it becomes transparent and even more colorful — watch their wonder as their hidden pictures appear. This fun twist can provide a unique angle to a conventional art session. Painting isn’t just about colors on paper; for kids, it’s about unlocking their imagination and allowing them to explore the endless possibilities of artistic expression. Simple materials upcycled with innovative techniques can transform painting into a joyful and educational pastime. These three projects are just the beginning of a beautiful journey into art for the whole family.

Show Your Skin Some Love

3 Tips for Your Skin Care Journey Healthier and radiant skin involves more than just a collection of expensive skin care products. It’s more about a consistent routine with products that protect and complement your skin. A skin care routine can be a game-changer in achieving beautiful skin if done right. Here are three starter tips to jump-start your skin care journey.

essential aspect of a morning routine to protect the skin from harmful UV rays.” It helps prevent skin cancer, premature aging, and hyperpigmentation. Using sunscreen should become a habit in your daily routine, reapplying every 2–3 hours. You can also throw sunscreen sticks in your bag for easy application or use moisturizers with SPF. Just make sure it’s at least 30 SPF.

DOUBLE CLEANSE. Double cleansing is a new skin care practice with a name that describes it precisely. First, use an oil-based cleanser to break down any makeup, sunscreen, or excess oils on your skin. Scrub gently for at least one minute; sing your favorite song or set a timer — just be sure it’s one minute. Wash off the cleanser with warm water and begin the second part with a water-based cleanser, ensuring thorough removal of sweat and environmental pollutants. After rinsing, gently pat your face dry. USE SUNSCREEN DAILY. Incorporating sunscreen into your skin care routine is crucial for maintaining beautiful skin. Dermatologist Dr. Howard Wang tells Johns Hopkins Medicine that “sunscreen is an

DON’T FORGET YOUR NECK AND CHEST.

Including the neck and chest in a skin care routine is also incredibly important. Just extend your double cleansing, moisturizer, SPF, and any other steps to your neck and chest. Skin care expert Paula Begoun explains, “The neck and chest have fewer oil glands, meaning they’re more prone to dryness and accelerated aging.” So, extending your routine to these often-neglected areas will address signs of aging more thoroughly. You’ll see and feel the difference in your skin in no time.

PEST OF THE MONTH A Well-Known Bug — The Ant

INSIDER OF THE MONTH BECKY LEWIS IS TRANSFORMING FITNESS IN ARIZONA

Ants are common creepy crawlers in Arizona, with three main types local to us. Rover Ants Rover ants, one of the most common species found in our area, are often spotted scurrying up and down vertical surfaces like grass blades and fence posts. Come dusk, these ants are drawn to lights, and during summer, their winged females may be found floating in pools in large numbers. Harvester Ants Harvester ants are recognized for their large size, ranging from 4 1/2 millimeters to 13 millimeters in length. Often mistaken for fire ants, they’re reddish in color and known for their seed-collecting behavior. These ants construct larger mounds in dirt or grass, but they typically don’t invade homes. Odorous House Ants These ants range from 1/16-inch to 1/8-inch in length and are typically brown or black. They can form super colonies of up to 100,000 ants with multiple queens, facilitating the exchange of food, water, and breeding materials between satellite locations. Treatment Because only about 5% of the colony will be above ground at any given time, we use a variety of different baits to get down into the entire colony. Ants are very social insects, so those that come in contact with the product on the surface will spread it throughout the colony. Reminder: If we don’t solve your ant problem the first time, we will come back out. We offer free re-services in between your regular maintenance services!
