In 2023 Selenis was formally recognised by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) for meeting the highest criteria for recyclability according to the APR Design® Guide for Plastics Recyclability for Weezen® CE. The combination of Weezen® CE 102 and Weezen® CE 201 resins, allows for the extrusion of a multilayer heat-shrinkable film that has the ability to crystallise, avoiding clumping issues in the post-consumer PET bottle recycling process. These resins are developed with an innovative chemical composition that guarantees the same characteristics as shrink film produced with PETG, but with the advantage of having proven recyclability in the PET, RIC 1 recycling stream. This offers a sustainable solution for the heat shrink sleeve market, as labels produced with this combination of resins are 100% recyclable in the PET recycling stream, without compromising the shrinkage behavior. It was a great achievement to have received APR Design® for Recyclability Recognition for our proprietary solution for a circular economy, showing our commitment to ensuring all packaging is recyclable. “Labels can significantly impact the quality of recycled plastics. The APR is pleased to recognise Selenis for their Weezen® CE 102 and Weezen® CE 201 resins for heat shrink sleeve labels,” stated Steve Alexander, APR President, and CEO. “We encourage companies to choose packaging components that have received APR Design® Recognition, APR Design® Recognition
which are the gold standard for compatibility with recycling infrastructure, when making design decisions.”
