Decarbonisation according to SBTi Environment
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) outlines several typical phases for a decarbonisation pathway:
Assessment
In this initial phase, we will evaluate our current carbon emissions and identify areas where reductions can be made. Selenis calculates our carbon footprint across scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions since 2021.
Target setting
Once the assessment is complete, Selenis will set specific targets for reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. These targets should align with scientific recommendations to limit global warming to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, aiming for 1.5°C. Targets will include intensity targets.
With targets in place, we will develop detailed plans outlining how we will achieve our emission reduction goals. This will involve implementing energy efficiency measures, transitioning to renewable energy sources, improving supply chain practices, or investing in carbon-offsetting projects.
Planning
Implementation
During this phase, we will put our decarbonisation plans into action. This will involve making changes to operations, investing in new technologies, or engaging with stakeholders to drive sustainable practices throughout the supply chain.
Monitoring and reporting
Throughout the decarbonisation process, Selenis will continuously monitor our progress towards our emission reduction targets. Regular reporting allows us to track our performance, identify areas for improvement, and demonstrate transparency to stakeholders.
Periodic reviews of decarbonisation strategies are essential to ensure they remain effective and aligned with evolving scientific knowledge and best practices. Selenis may need to adjust our targets or strategies based on changing circumstances, emerging technologies, or new regulatory requirements.
