Energy management Environment

In 2023 we achieved a decrease of 10% in energy intensity, versus our 2021 baseline year, thanks to increased production and the implementation of efficiency measures. These measures included enhancing thermal insulation in select pipelines, addressing steam leaks, and replacing outdated electric motors with more efficient alternatives. Energy intensity is different per production site due to their different processes and products. In Portugal we have a batch production system and vacuum is produced with steam. In Italy our production is both batch and semi-continuous and vacuum is done by specific electric vacuum pumps (less energy intensive compared to steam ones). These are the reasons for the difference in energy intensity.
