Letter from the President Introduction to our company
2023 has been a year in which we continued building our strong foundations to improve and expand our operations, while keeping our constant commitment to sustainability and regenerative practices. In 2023, we continued working across our four priority areas: fostering sustainable growth by embedding our values in our company culture, diversifying product offerings and markets, emphasising sustainability to differentiate the Group’s commitment, and identifying synergies across businesses to optimise value capture and retention. These priorities are aimed at achieving both long-term aspirations and immediate objectives, driving our group towards a more sustainable and regenerative future while capitalising on its scale, integration, and resources. One of our main achievements of 2023 has been our capacity expansion into a well-diversified international footprint, designed to be closer to our customers, providing them a better service and lower carbon impact. As examples, during 2023 we started up our new production facility in Italy which employs more than 80 employees today, and we also upgraded and increased our production capacity in Mexico and Brazil with new extrusion lines. As part of our growth and diversification strategy, Evertis has been working for over a year in developing a business line dedicated to medical and pharmaceutical clients: Evercare™. During 2023, we worked together with suppliers, technical teams and clients in developing our proposition to support healthcare customers looking for more sustainable packaging alternatives, while ensuring the highest standards on technical and regulatory requirements. Together with our expansion plans, we continued working on actively demonstrating the circularity potential of PET products through our Renascis business. Through our Innovation Task Force initiative, we managed to identify an efficient and
effective technology to successfully delaminate PET material from multi-layer films. This proprietary technology has been used to build a new recycling unit focused on multilayer films with a capacity of 350 tonnes per month. This is an exceptionally innovative and circular investment which will support Evertis and the industry to meet its circular ambitions. Circularity, renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable raw materials are part of our key strategies towards our goals of reduction of our carbon footprint. To reinforce our decarbonisation plans, we adhered to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), as a complement to our ongoing calculation of Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) of all our products. These initiatives are part of our commitment to transparency and reduction of carbon footprint. Other important milestone in 2023 includes the certification of our production facilities in Mexico and Portugal under ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management systems, and in Mexico and Brazil under ISO 14001 for Environmental Management systems. These certifications underscore our dedication to upholding the highest standards of safety, health, and environmental responsibility. Looking ahead, our focus remains on driving regenerative management practices, fostering innovation, and strengthening partnerships to create lasting positive impacts. We are actively engaged in initiatives such as the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty, demonstrating our commitment to collaborative solutions for tackling plastic pollution. Evertis Packaging Solutions Company overview Evertis, part of the IMG Group, specialises in the production of barrier films for a variety of packaging applications. Our portfolio for food packaging applications plays a crucial role in delivering barrier protection, ensuring safety, and enhancing convenience for end users, while extending the shelf life of products and combating food waste. In 2023 we launched our Evercare™ product line, supplying the healthcare industry with high-quality products that support sustainability goals while meeting strict technical and regulatory standards.
Leveraging over six decades of expertise in the polymer industry, Evertis is at the forefront of driving circularity through continual product and process innovation. We prioritise forging strategic partnerships with both clients and suppliers to collaboratively engineer high-quality products that are future-fit.
Our global presence, with production facilities spanning Brazil, Mexico, Portugal and most recently Italy, empowers us to swiftly adapt to client requirements and consumer trends. Through close collaboration with our sister company, Selenis, a leading producer of PET-based specialty resins, we gain a competitive edge in enhancing product characteristics and agility in responding to evolving market demands. Utilising advanced lamination and coextrusion techniques, we blend diverse materials with varying properties to engineer novel formulations that meet specific customer needs. Rigorous testing in our state-of-the-art laboratories ensures that our products consistently meet stringent quality standards and deliver on performance metrics such as food safety, sealing efficiency, barrier integrity, and recyclability.

Renascis Company overview Located within our industrial complex in Portalegre, Portugal, our on-site recycling facility, Renascis, plays a pivotal role in our sustainability efforts. Specialising in the recycling of post- consumer PET waste, Renascis transforms this material into a new feedstock for our film production, achieving full vertical integration and minimising logistical carbon emissions. Our commitment to incorporating recycled content is bolstered by a reliable supply of recycled PET. The light blue and clear PET flakes produced by Renascis are seamlessly integrated into our film production processes, ensuring a closed-loop system that maximises resource efficiency. As part of our strong commitment to circularity and tray- to-tray initiatives, we have been working in identifying innovative solutions to recycle multilayer trays. This has resulted in the development of a proprietary technology, which allows to obtain clear PET flakes from multilayer films and trays. As part of this effort, Renascis has invested in a new delamination unit that uses this technology to recycle these materials and incorporate the recycled PET into new transparent film. As pioneers in PET recycling in Portugal, Renascis remains the leading recycler in the country, annually recovering a substantial volume of post-consumer PET bottles, equivalent to more than 50% of Portugal’s waste stream.

Our context
Evertis operates in an uncertain economic and geopolitical environment, facing challenges such as rising energy prices, fossil energy dependence, humanitarian crises, and increasing demands from clients and consumers for sustainability and wellbeing. Despite progress in recycling rates, there’s a global plastics waste management problem, with varying PET recycling schemes across countries. Low collection rates and increasing PET flake end-users have led to scarcity in post-consumer recycled material (PCR). Evertis is addressing this by increasing utilisation of recycled content from the PET tray loop and enhancing PET tray recyclability. The industry is moving towards a circular economy through investments in improving recycling infrastructure and sorting technology and, collective action on consumer education, policy, and regulations, with notable policy changes in regions like the EU and the USA. Chemical depolymerisation technologies hold potential for improving PET circularity.

Furthermore, the volatility in energy prices, aggravated by both climate change impacts and geopolitical tensions, poses a direct financial risk to our company. Fluctuating energy prices can significantly impact production costs, particularly considering our reliance on energy-intensive processes. Additionally, the need to invest in energy-efficient technologies and renewable energy sources to mitigate climate change- related risks further adds to our financial burden. Sustainability topics Regenerative management To identify the main sustainability topics of our company, we consulted with our stakeholders of previous years through a survey among employees and suppliers, and we also considered the insight of our commercial team, the talks we conduct with our clients, and the outcomes from associations meetings and industry forums. This year, in line with our commitment to robust sustainability reporting, we have adopted a double materiality approach. This approach not only considers the impacts of our activities on the external environment, but also evaluates the extent to which external environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors may impact our business operations and long-term sustainability. The assessment was completed with other issues and challenges that we deem relevant to our sustainability strategy. The final list of relevant topics is depicted in the following materiality graphic, and it is classified according to our 5 sustainability pillars. They represent our company’s most significant impacts on the economy, environment, and people, including impacts on human rights. The identified material topics are thoroughly addressed throughout the entirety of the report, appearing in various sections. Evertis’ Regenerative Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Regenerative management At Evertis, we are deeply committed to creating a regenerative future by actively promoting sustainable practices and fostering positive environmental and social impacts. As part of our ongoing efforts, we have identified a set of 10 Regenerative Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that serve as benchmarks to measure and drive our progress towards a more sustainable and regenerative business model. These KPIs reflect our dedication to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and ethical practices.
Carbon intensity reduction We aim to reduce our carbon intensity annually through the increased adoption of renewable energy sources, implementation of energy-efficient practices, and continuous optimisation of our operations.
Renewable energy mix Our goal is to achieve an ambitious renewable energy mix across all our operations, demonstrating our commitment to combat climate change and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
Water stewardship We strive to minimise our water consumption and improve water- use efficiency through responsible water management practices, including water recycling, conservation measures, and monitoring water-related risks.
Waste reduction and circular economy We are dedicated to minimising waste generation and maximising resource efficiency.

Biodiversity conservation We are dedicated to protecting and enhancing biodiversity. Our KPIs include preserving natural habitats, promoting reforestation efforts, and supporting initiatives that foster biodiversity conservation and restoration.
Employee wellbeing We prioritise the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees. Our KPIs encompass reducing work-related accidents, promoting employee wellness programs, and fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Our contribution to sustainable development Regenerative management Our commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is ingrained in our policies and programs.
We maintain a strong commitment to human rights and have implemented a Labour and Human Rights Policy that adheres to international standards. Our aim is to ensure fair and respectful treatment of our employees and business partners.
We acknowledge the significance of biodiversity conservation and have devised country-specific biodiversity strategies in every location where we operate. Our strategies strive to safeguard and revive ecosystems while supporting local communities. In 2023, all our production sites were ISO 14001 certified.
In 2023, our production facilities in Portugal and Mexico were certified under ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety management system.
We have identified a set of 10 regenerative KPIs that guide our sustainability efforts. These KPIs enable us to measure our progress towards a regenerative future.

ESG Policy Regenerative management
In 2023, our commitment to sustainability has deepened as we engage with our entire value chain to reduce our carbon footprint and address the challenge of microplastics. We have joined international initiatives such as the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty, and we are actively assessing our plants in terms of macro and microplastics.
Our strategy continues to prioritise economic and financial sustainability while applying environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria and indicators to assess our performance. These indicators are featured throughout this report.
We have developed action plans aimed at fostering good environmental practices crucial to our transition towards becoming a regenerative company.
• Implementation of a certified environmental management system according to ISO 14001 in all our factories for the first time. • Safety and Health certification according to ISO 45001:2018 at Evertis Ibérica and Evertis México. • Calculation and management of our carbon footprint, encompassing scopes 1, 2, and 3. • Advancement of energy self-sufficiency and long- term self-consumption through exclusively renewable energies. The first phase of our solar park, initiated in November 2022, is projected to supply 25% of the electricity used by our industrial site in Portalegre by 2024. • Calculation and management of the environmental footprint of our products through Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) .
• Management of water consumption and the formulation of plans to reduce water intensity. • Collaboration with stakeholders to contribute to ecosystem regeneration, including environmental organisations and local communities. • Contribution to circularity by incorporating recycled material into our products and collaborating with stakeholders such as suppliers and industry associations to promote and increase recycling. • Additionally, in collaboration and dialogue with our internal and external stakeholders, we are actively addressing topics such as labour and social development, as well as implementing an ethical management system. This contributes directly to Sustainable Development Goal 16, fostering solid and transparent institutions.
Our social indicators continue to measure the success of actions targeted towards the people within our group, fostering their personal and professional development. Ambitious programs around education, social integration, domestic violence, and support for indigenous peoples in regions where we operate, such as Brazil and Mexico, underscore our commitment to social progress.

In 2023 Evertis reinforced our commitment to sustainability through our recent adhesion to the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty, bringing together businesses and financial institutions committed to supporting the development of an ambitious, effective, and legally-binding UN Treaty to end plastic waste. Evertis shares the Coalition’s vision of a circular economy in which plastic never becomes waste or pollution, and the value of products and materials is retained in the economy. A comprehensive circular economy approach can address the root causes of plastic pollution and contribute to the global efforts to combat the climate and biodiversity crisis, while delivering economic, environmental, and social benefits. We are committed to advocating for ambitious policy recommendations that prioritise reduction, circulation, and prevention of plastic pollution. With over 200 endorsers, the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty presents a unique opportunity for governments, businesses, and stakeholders worldwide to collaborate on effective solutions to address the challenges posed by plastic pollution. Evertis believes it’s our responsibility to be part of the solution to end plastic waste, and we want to do our part in this pivotal moment in the history of plastics, emphasising the urgent need for coordinated action to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy. The coalition is dedicated to engaging with treaty negotiators, developing clear policy recommendations, and building confidence in the business community regarding the benefits of an effective treaty. It is a call upon all stakeholders to join in the collective effort to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy where plastic never becomes waste or pollution. Committed to the Plastics Pact targets towards a circular economy
Evertis is a proud member of the U.S. Plastics Pact, working to shape a circular future for plastic packaging. As an Activator, Evertis helps the Pact tackle difficult issues and make recommendations for actions we can take now and in the future. The U.S. Plastics Pact’s Roadmap to 2025 has been used by brand owners, NGOs and government bodies to inform and shape policy by providing a cross-functional, cross-industry approach to the challenges and opportunities plastic packaging represents. In 2023 Evertis participated in the first ever U.S. Plastics Pact Action Summit in New Orleans to accelerate progress toward existing goals and begin work to create a roadmap beyond 2025 to help define the role of the U.S. Plastics Pact in the future. We also dove deeper into the Pact’s work through participation in the Film and Flexibles workstream, an area in need of enhanced support due to the more limited recycling opportunities that exist today. The U.S. Plastics Pact has established itself as an action- oriented voice of the industry in the challenging world of plastics circularity.
Evertis strongly supports the Plastics Pact´s mission of bringing together expertise and resources across the entire plastics value chain. We believe that by sharing best practices, challenges and reporting on our progress, businesses can learn from each other, and jointly transform the plastics system. Every year, pact members report on how we have contributed towards the four targets set out by the Plastics Pacts. In 2023, we shared how through the RETRAY certification we strengthened our commitment to increasing the utilisation of recycled content in our films, as well as increasing recyclability. This certification underscores our commitment to reducing plastic waste through innovative approaches and promoting circularity in our operations. Moreover, we actively contributed to the creation and launch of the “Porquê o Plástico” (“Why Plastic”) guideline created by the Portuguese Plastics Pact. This guide serves as a comprehensive resource, explaining the meaning of implementing a circular economy for plastics, enabling a more rational, responsible, and sustainable use of plastics. This initiative aligns with our goal of promoting awareness and understanding of the importance of a circular economy for plastics. Through our participation in the Plastics Pacts, Evertis continues to lead by example in the journey towards a more sustainable future. We remain dedicated to driving positive change, fostering innovation, and collaborating with stakeholders to create lasting solutions to the challenges of plastic pollution.
Evertis has been at the forefront of joint efforts in implementing solutions towards a circular economy, exemplified by our active participation in the Plastics Pact established by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. As a founding member of both the Portuguese Plastics Pact and the U.S. Plastics Pact, we have demonstrated our commitment to driving the transition towards a circular economy for plastics.
