Into the future - Evertis 2023 Sustainability Report

Circular economy Recycled content traceability under RETRAY Certification Evertis’ dedication to circularity drove us to renew our RETRAY certification, led by the Ecosense Foundation. This certification recognises and disseminates the work of those companies that introduce, in film production processes, both monolayer and multilayer, colourless transparent recycled PET, obtained from tray-to-tray recycling processes, along with recycled PET from other sources. The RETRAY certification scheme consolidates a circular economy model in the value chain of thermoformed PET packaging by quantifying the content of recycled material, from the tray-to-tray circuit and other sources, in accordance with the EN 15343 standard, and the verification of its recyclability according to the recycling guidelines published by the foundation. By auditing the processes of film manufacturing, Evertis Ibérica verified compliance with the following requirements of the RETRAY Procedure: • Traceability on the incorporation of recycled material (upstream) • Traceability on waste management and limitation of non- recyclable materials (downstream) • Includes UNE-EN 15343 requirements for the calculation of the recycled content of the products manufactured during a time frame The ultimate purpose of RETRAY is to increase the volume of waste from the tray-to-tray loop that is recycled. By following through on our commitment to circularity, Evertis contributes to meeting the ambitious targets set by the European Commission in the PPWR. This commitment echoes our dedication to advancing a true circular economy within the PET industry, and our mission of supplying future-fit packaging solutions.
