Into the future - Evertis 2023 Sustainability Report

Health and wellbeing Employee wellbeing and development

Yellow September - Suicide prevention In September 2023, Evertis Brasil organised a lecture for our employees, given by Goretti Bussolo from the Instituto Todas as Marias. The attendees heard testimonials and experiences that the speaker had gone through, delving deeper into the causes of suicide, which can include profound depression among other issues such as social isolation, stress, bullying, or behavioural problems. The talk highlighted that there has been a significant increase in suicide among young people, especially after the pandemic. This reminded us that we must be attentive to those around us, paying attention to our children, colleagues, family members, and generally to all people close to us. Seeking help is fundamental, and providing support is essential too. In addition to the lecture, during the month of September, employees left cheerful and affectionate messages on our dry tree. The dry tree symbolises the pain and emptiness that many carry within themselves, and the messages and ties demonstrate support and appreciation for life.

Pink October Evertis launched Pink October initiatives worldwide to address the profound impact of breast cancer on employees and communities. These efforts, spanning Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Portugal, and the U.S., aimed to foster solidarity, raise awareness, and provide vital support to local organisations aiding breast cancer patients and survivors. Activities included photographic marathons and paramedical procedures in Mexico and Brazil, community events like book donations in Italy and cultural celebrations in Portugal, as well as educational seminars and partnerships with organisations like the National Breast Cancer Foundation in the U.S. Through these initiatives, Evertis employees actively contributed to a meaningful cause, promoting a sense of purpose and community engagement while honouring the resilience of those affected by breast cancer. The company’s commitment to fostering awareness and providing support has strengthened its global community and reaffirmed its dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of individuals and families impacted by this challenging disease.

Movember This year was the first year that Evertis organised a global initiative in support of Men’s Health Awareness Month. Our male colleagues across our industrial commercial offices and corporate centres worldwide actively participated in a series of engaging events and insightful discussions throughout November. Despite the growing prevalence of men’s health concerns, we recognise that these issues often remain in the shadows, with many men lacking adequate awareness. At Evertis, we are dedicated to bridging this knowledge gap and encouraging open dialogues around critical men’s health topics, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.

By fostering a deeper understanding and awareness, we are taking substantial steps towards contributing to the targets outlined by Sustainable Development Goal

3, ensuring healthy lives, and promoting wellbeing for all.
