Jalisco, Mexico Through the Sol Pacífico Foundation Eco-bricks Project, in 2023 we supported 4 schools in Jalisco, Mexico: Escuela Libertad (Arroyo Seco), Escuela Unión y Progreso (Emiliano Zapata), Escuela Emiliano Zapata (Francisco Villa) and Escuela Emiliano Zapata (San Mateo). Environmental and recycling education were included in the curriculum of these four schools. A complete educational programme was developed, including topics such as recycling, circularity, ecosystems of the region, and the water cycle. In 2023, through the purchase of eco-bricks and employment, this program benefitted directly at least 427 children and 164 adults, and indirectly 7,750 people.
Complementary educational activities • Recycled costume competitions promoted values and skills for learning, creativity development, and cooperation, creating awareness in children about a better management of their inorganic waste. • Beach clean-ups were organised, where children from one or more schools were invited to participate as volunteers collecting inorganic waste. In these activities we promoted environmental responsibility and awareness as well as universal values and soft skills such as teamwork, organisation, etc. • Free surf lessons for children of all ages, mainly held after a beach clean-up, promoting healthy habits, connection with nature, resilience and shared fun experiences.
Complementary educational activities • Escuela Emiliano Zapata: built school canteens with eco-bricks, as well as repairs in the structure and roof • Escuela San Mateo: built new canteens with eco-bricks • Escuela Unión y Progreso: donated classroom
equipment and an air conditioning system
