Job Description

Position: Senior Consultant – built environment decarbonisation Location: Based from our office in Adderbury with occasional work from home or client sites

Summary The LCMB team are growing! We are looking for a senior consultant to help us design and deliver decarbonisation and other net-zero carbon solutions for buildings and their associated infrastructure. LCMB improves our customers building performance and productivity through consultancy, project management and hands-on-support that delivers: • Improved staff wellbeing, performance and productivity. • Reduced costs, energy, consumption and carbon emissions. • Enhanced and boosted hard and soft FM performance. • Successful capital projects on time and on budget. As a Senior Consultant, you will collaborate closely with our world- class clients to identify improvement opportunities, develop tailored decarbonisation plans, and guide the implementation of sustainable initiatives for existing and new buildings, along with their associated infrastructure such as EV charging, renewal energy solutions etc. Your knowledge, practical design experience and expertise in net-zero solutions, renewable energy, and environmental regulations, will be vital in helping our clients to achieve their decarbonisation goals and routes to net zero carbon.

• Work with external partners and suppliers to select and integrate appropriate technologies for improved environmental performance. • Develop technical specifications and standards for heating installations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations. • Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and performance assessments for decarbonisation and net-zero projects. • Provide technical guidance to internal stakeholders on heating design, energy efficiency, net-zero, and sustainability best practices. • Support the development of sustainability strategies, policies, and initiatives based on engineering insights and recommendations. Qualifications and skills • You are likely to have a building services engineering background with M&E design skills and experience, or be a built environment professional with decarbonisation experience and expertise. • Capable of developing design to stage(s) 2 & 3 and managing the delivery of designs for new build and refurbishment projects. • You are likely to be a Chartered Engineer, or design professional or working towards your chartered status. • Ability to confidently present technical solutions to a technical and client audience. • Passion for sustainability and a strong commitment to driving positive environmental impact through the built environment. • Professional qualification and/or demonstrable experience in mechanical engineering, building services, or related fields. • Prior experience in operating building systems and designing carbon reduction solutions. • Excellent knowledge of decarbonisation technologies, systems, and components (e.g., heat pumps). • Proficiency in using digital simulation tools and software like PHPP, COMSOL, ANSYS, or similar. • Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and guidelines related to carbon reduction, heat decarbonisation, design, and sustainability. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, translating technical data into actionable recommendations. • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well within a fast-paced, multi-faceted team. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. • Passionate about self-development and growth. Reports to: Director of Operations

Job Overview In this role, you will:

• Conduct assessments to evaluate clients’ carbon footprints, energy usage, and sustainability practices, identifying areas for improvement and developing decarbonisation and net-zero carbon strategies related to all utilities and resource usage. • Create Heat Decarbonisation Plans and Net Zero Strategies, including Green Plans and Carbon Footprints (Scope 1, 2, and 3). • Provide expertise in areas such as energy auditing, building performance optimisation, low/zero carbon heating solutions, ventilation and cooling solutions, BMS optimisation, heat pump sizing, retrofitting carbon-saving technologies, energy modelling, DNO capacity assessment, and building energy performance analysis. (Experience in dealing with Salix and PSDS would be particularly useful.) • Collaborate with sustainability experts and data scientists to develop innovative decarbonisation solutions, optimising design through digital technology, simulation, and energy modelling. • Gathering data for producing EPCs and DECs • Analyse building infrastructure systems to identify improvement opportunities and implement sustainable enhancements.
