Dr. M. R. DeHaan used to tell the story of a Dutchman named George, who had just come over from the old country. He had a long beard and a very heavy mus tache. In order to tease him a little, a few of his Hollander-Michigan friends gave him some limburger cheese. It was rather soft and warm so after he took a few bites, pieces of it were clinging to his mustache. Ever after that it seemed he could not get rid of the distinctive odor. No matter where he went, the strong smell of that limburger cheese accompanied him. Finally, in exasperation, sniffing the air ev ery which way, he had to make the sage observation, "Why, the whole world smells rotten!"
